Carbon tax

Car emissions are one of the major contributors to green house gasses and global warming. Although big business has been targeted, by way of a carbon tax, little has been done to address the increasing levels of greenhouse gasses coming from car pollution.

Greenhouse gasses emissions from transportation vehicles has increases approximately 30 percent in the last 20 years. Car pooling is obviously a great solution to reduce these emissions but if you must use your car there are a number of tips that can help efficiency and save you some dollars on your fuel bills as well.

The simplest way to increase efficiency is to drive safely. By that, don’t over rev your car which increases fuel consumption and drive under the speed limit. keeping your tyres properly inflated will help you car run more efficiently. This is because more surface area is touching the road when your tyres are inflates reducing drag. Try to avoid using your air conditioner as much as possible. If you have to use your air-conditioner, then make sure you wind down the windows for the first 1 kilometre to get rid of all the hot air that’s in your car. This will make your air-conditioner have to work less to cool your car.

There is no reason you should have an RV or a 4-wheel drive if you live in the city. Buy a green car, save on fuel and help the environment at the same time!
